Yesterday a small group of quilters that I'm part of took a field trip to Burkholder's Fabrics in Denver, PA (close to Lancaster) to purchase fabrics for the 2009 raffle quilt for our quilt guild

. This place, nestled in Mennonite country, is situated on a farm in a very peaceful setting, except for the barn smells! As if this was not enough, the selection of fabrics was better than I've seen, and even better, I've never before paid $6.99/yard for batik fabric. To make things even more surprising, they gave us all a 15% discount for having come as a small group. I probably purchased more batiks than I really need (well not probably, yes, for sure), but I could not resist some of the gorgeous colors and patterns. I've vowed to go on a fabric diet now (an expression borrowed from a good friend of mine, Lisa). So can you tell that I higly recommend this place? Oh, and they have and online store as well, though it is not as extensive.

You can never have too many batiks. Because they are one of a kind you have to buy them when you see them to build a good stash.
So true!
