From Under the Santa Monica Pier, Calif.

This photo, taken last week from under the Santa Monica Pier in California, reminds me of dye-discharged fabric. Click on it to see larger. I just love the dark/light aspect of this picture, and how the pilings look like the legs of many animals working together to hold up the structure above. It's so dark, mysterious, confining, and pattern-like down here, and above is the color, the movement, the open sky and the people of all sorts.
