The Sept. 2003 Quilt Sampler had an article on a quilt shop in Pacific Grove, CA, Back Porch Fabrics, in which they featured a quilt called Magic Stars. At the time, I decided that I wanted to make that quilt, wrote KEEP across the top of the magazine, went out and bought the fabrics for the quilt, stashed them on my shelf of fabrics, and five years went quickly by. This weekend I attended my quilt guild's quilting retreat for three days. Being between projects, I was not sure what to take, so I decided this would be a good time to start Magic Stars. Telling one of my fellow quilters about the quilt, I announced that it had been languishing for about three years. I was shocked when I looked closely at the date of the magazine. Where does the time go? I am still in disbelief that it could have been five years ago that I had a plan to make this quilt. I feel satifsfied that I finished the top, but I have no idea how to quilt it. I was asked this question at the retreat, and honestly, I had never thought that far ahead on this one. I want to use it in the living room as a "throw", so I want it to be drapey and soft, not stiff with too much quilting. I'm actually thinking that maybe tying it would be appropriate. And, before I end this blog, I just want to say "Hi" to Leslie, who attended the retreat with me; we sure had a good time!Sunday, January 20, 2008

Hi Twila - You can see how "up to date" I am on reading blogs. It's now February. Wasn't the retreat great? I finished my redwork block and have healed enough to get back to my sewing machine. Yeah!
