Tiffany spent all day with me, working on her T Shirt quilt. For someone who has not touched a sewing machine since 8th grade, she is progressing quite quickly and impressively--not that she's in the sewing phase of the quilt yet, but her enthusiasm for the project is high, and success is the only option! At Capital Quilts this morning, she chose a set of gorgeous batiks for her sashing and border. As three of the fabric pieces have black backgrounds, we purchased Retayne and went through the color retention test early on, only to learn that the color was indeed running. And wow, Retayne works! I only had to explain to Tiffany once about the particulars of placing the Fusi Knit to the back of the T designs. She was able to get all 19 T pieces backed and ready for marking on our next work day, despite her lack of pressing experience. All in all I'd say that I'm very pleased with the student's progress and look forward to next weekend when we continue (I think there's a sewing machine in her future...).
