This New Piece, Call it "At the Lake"?

Posted by PicasaThe most recent of my pieces, this one is made mostly from dye-discharged fabrics I did back in Septemer of last year. I love the bottom piece, the dragonflies, and the leaf. My only regret is that the dragonflies are on a piece of fabric that is 40% poly and the discharged color is not as vibrant as the black Kona cotton. There are three commercial fabrics in it, which help to add more color. All the cutting was free-hand, no straight edges, and it felt so good to leave the rulers out of the process. The blue circular pieces are just pinned on, as I'm not fully committed to them yet. I'm excited about this piece of work, as it is appealing to me from the start much more than the last two pieces. Oh, and now that I've started this one, I actually have three pieces of work in progress at one time: Lines #9, Quackers (Rose Hahn design), and At the Lake (assuming it will keep this name). That's good for me, as I usually have one piece going at a time--a bit different from most quilters who seem to have many in progress simultaneously.

Very rich colors. I like it. I think some of us that have many pieces going at once have bigger houses, therefore more space to leave the pieces in progress. Sometimes space is a curse.

I have to add this piece to one of my favorites of your quilting art...the colors, theme and the title. I really love this one. Rachie

Me too! Your work is exciting, fresh and very original. Thank you for sharing it. At first I thought the blue circles were shell buttons. I just bought a package of them and now have an idea of how to use them. So if you take them off, they have served a good purpose!
