This embroidered piece called Three Traditional Women I purchased from Valerie Hearder's site, http://www.valeriehearder.com/african_threads/index.htm, after finding a link to Valerie on Judy Martin's web blog, http://judys-journal.blogspot.com/. The profits from the sale of these pieces benefit the Stephen Lewis Foundation's Grandmothers-to-Grandmothers Campaign. Read about this campaign on Valerie' site as it helps HIV/AIDS programs in Sub Saharan Africa, and the cost of these beautiful works of art is nominal in our terms making it easy to give and at the same time receive. I'm so glad to have this piece; it makes me feel connected to these women, who I imagine to be strong in spirit with unimaginable will.
