Applique Test Piece

The applique test for Sarah Beth's quilt consists of batik fabric with Wonder Under as the stabilizer. I was not planning to press the applique onto the quilt, but it may not be a bad idea to do such. I would still stitch the edge of the applique with, probably, a blanket stitch on my Bernina. Mom is sending an alternative fabric for the applique and I expect to receive it tomorrow in the mail. It is also batik, but more of a solid dark charcoal with some lighter vertical runs through it, at least as I understand it to be.
The applique was a bit troublesome to cut out. I used a combination of a utility knife and small scissors, seen in the picture on the left. Perhaps tomorrow night I'll post a picture of this applique pinned to the quilt. I'm definitely making progress Sarah Beth, just not always enough to warrant a blog with a picture. Hang in there, it will be yours someday.
