Pi Quilt

Derek requested a quilt, but it was a specific wish for a pi quilt. He did not give me details as to how it should be designed, just that it should be a pi quilt. The quilt, my first real quilt, was created without Derek's knowledge and was done in dark reds and greens, golds, and blacks. I believe I appliqued around 15 of the first digits in pi, ending with the pi sign, shown in this picture. When I gave it to Derek on Christmas Day 2002, he opened the box in which it was wrapped, had a wholly surprised look, got up from his seat and hugged me so tight, so long. I'm glad that it surrounded him when he rested for 3+ years. Now the angels have that role. Thank you, David, for taking Derek's quilt under your care.

This morning, I looked at the "Pi Quilt" and found that it is acually stitched to 18 decimal places. Spread across the bed, it gives the room an autumn aura. Twila, you created a very warm memory of a very warm person.
We miss you Derek.

Thanks, David, for correcting the number of decimal places, and for kind compliment.
