The jacket has a title: Going to the Happy Store a.k.a The Happy Jacket. In 2003 I was inspired to make a jacket to submit to the Hoffman Challenge. Difficult to see in the picture, it has colorful buttons at the point of each block, and some hand stitching on some seams. Sewing the buttons on by hand had my fingers so sore that I had to let them heal before finishing that step. The jacket was completed just in time to express mail it to California by the deadline. The fabrics are all Hoffman fabrics; the colors are not ones that I'd choose for myself. I fully expected that the jacket would be returned to me with a note of appreciation for submitting it into the challenge and that's that. Although it did not place, it was chosen to be in one of the travelling trunks, and I was able to watch the itinerary online for the year that it travelled. The jacket came back to me in October 2004. I have worn the jacket two times since then. It just isn't me. And I have not been inspired to participate in such a challenge since!
